Steamed Pork in Ground Rice Powder

, , Leave a comment

This was a childhood favorite.  Tender, succulent bites of pork each coated in a delicious layer of soft ground rice.  It does take a few Chinese ingredients, but if you’re not near an Asian grocery store, you can easily get them off Amazon.  I’ve included links below.  Trust me, this dish is worth the effort.  If you do purchase the ingredients off Amazon, I’ll get a few pennies commission, which would be super helpful!  And after you actually have the ingredients, the rest of the dish is super simple.  Basically, you combine all ingredients, then steam.  So delicious!

ingredients
2 lb. pork spareribs cut crosswise into 1″ pieces (you can also substitute boneless country style pork ribs)
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1.5 T dark soy sauce
1 T broad bean chili paste
1 T xiao xing wine
1/4 C ground rice powder

directions
Put 1 cup of water into your Instant Pot, and add a trivet.  Combine pork, garlic, soy sauce, chili paste and xiao xing wine in a stainless steel bowl that will fit in your pressure cooker.  Stir to combine.  Next, pour in the rice powder, bit by bit, and stir to ensure the meat is evenly coated.  It’ll look like this:

Place the bowl in your Instant Pot, seal, and select Steam for 55 minutes.  If you have time, use a natural release.  If not, then do10 minutes of natural release, followed by a quick release.

Note: You can also add fresh green beans on top to cook along with the ribs!
